With funding from the U.S. Endowment for Forestry and Communities and the United States Department of Energy, the Biomass Energy Resource Center (BERC) has developed a series of case studies illustrating the development and operational experiences of various community-scale facilities that employ biomass systems.

BERC drew on existing expertise, recent experience, thorough research, and active communications with its broader established networks to identify and review "best-in-class" applications in the United States, Canada, Europe, and Scandinavia. 

The series contains 55 case studies listed under the following categories:

• Businesses and Industries (includes two woodchip suppliers)

• Housing
• Institutions
• Government Facilities
• Agricultural Facilities
